Who Is PSA?
The PSA (short for the Public Servants Association) As a registered trade union the PSA’s main objective is the effective protection of the collective and individual rights as well as the promotion of the collective interests of its members at their workplaces. It is one of very few trade unions in the South African Public Service which attends to the individual disputes of members free of charge. Non-members of the PSA should make sure that their present union is able to assist them in an individual rights dispute with their employer!

To effectively serve the needs of members, the PSA has an extensive network of committees and branches of which details are available from the PSA Head Office as well as any of the twelve PSA Provincial Offices. The PSA invests a considerable amount of time, effort and money in the training of its personnel who deal with members’ problems and negotiate at the various bargaining councils on their behalf. No other union can offer its members such a broad base of service and expertise. However, without the assistance of trained members, the PSA will not be able to render this excellent service. The PSA is thus engaged in a continual process of empowering its shop stewards to, amongst others, represent members in negotiations, disciplinary hearings and conciliation and arbitration procedures.

For more details please visit them on www.psa.co.za.

Who is SAVA/SAARP?
SAARP is a service organisation for senior citizens, with around 100 000 members spread all over the country.

It is the prime objective of SAARP to promote the interests of senior citizens by assisting them collectively, and using their collective bargaining power to obtain preferential services for them at rates, which are more favorable to them, due to their age group and style of life as senior citizens.  SAARP also corresponds with government and local authorities regarding matters of a collective nature pertaining to senior citizens.

All members may also receive our SAARP Bulletin every 4 months in which we keep members informed of those matters pertaining to their age group as well as any new membership benefits which have been organised.
